An elected Liberal Nationals Government will contribute over $10 million towards the upgrade of South Yarra Primary School.
Before construction commences, $500,000 will go towards a site review and building plan to improve the use of a small inner city footprint and plan ahead for the expectation of increased enrolments at the school.
The pressure on enrolments at South Yarra Primary School continue to escalate each year as the population in Prahran is anticipated to grow exponentially with new residential developments coming into the area continually.
South Yarra Primary School has absorbed 80 new enrolments this year – mostly at the Prep level causing the school to refit their library and multipurpose room as classrooms to accommodate the increase in student numbers.
Only a Liberal Nationals government will give the students and teachers at South Yarra Primary School the facilities they deserve.
Comments attributable to Shadow Minister for Education, Tim Smith:
“In Labor’s so-called ‘Education State’, South Yarra Primary School has been completely ignored.
The Liberal Nationals are committed to redeveloping South Yarra Primary School and give local students every chance they need to pursue a quality education.”
Comments attributable to Liberal Candidate for Prahran, Dr Katie Allen:
“I’ve fought long and hard for South Yarra to get its fair share of funding to develop its master plan and redevelop its classrooms and learning spaces.
We want a government that contains budget blow outs on infrastructure and invests in health and education with a forward looking vision for Victoria.
Prahran is the epicentre of population growth and we need a plan to deal with this going forward.”
